Vonau, Christopher
Practice description
Chris Vanau joined the Decker Vanau firm in 2008 as a law clerk and is now a partner. He received his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and his law degree from Capital University Law School. He is the son of one of the founding partners, Jim Vonau.
Chris’ practice areas include estate planning and probate matters; business formation, operation, transactions, and other matters; and residential, commercial, and investment real estate matters; guardianships; construction-related disputes.
Like his father, Chris is a member of both the Ohio and Columbus Bar Associations. He is a member of the Gahanna Community Improvement Corporation (CIC), Family and Youth Law Center (FYLaw) at Capital University, Volunteer Guardianship Program, the Catholic Foundation Professional Advisors Group (PAG), Columbus Foundation Professional Council, and The Ohio State Unversity Office of Estate and Gift Planning Professional Advisory Council.
Chris also chairs the Columbus Bar Association’s Estate Planning and Trust Committee.
Chris co-authored “Ohio Mechanics’ Lien”, a book published for fellow practitioners and contractors as a guide through the various topics of Ohio mechanics’ lien law.
As an avid supporter and alumnus of Saint Charles Preparatory High School in Bexley, Ohio, Chris is the current varsity head soccer coach at St. Charles. He enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Brittany, and his three children, Jackson, Barrett and Reese.
