Matthew S. Snyder, MBA, JD
Matt is dedicated to helping families with their estate planning and elder care law needs. He graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics before moving to Ohio and obtaining both his Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Master’s in Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the University of Akron.
After gaining exposure to elder care law topics, Matt knew he would focus his career on that path. Specifically, he enjoys providing clients with peace of mind to accomplish their asset protection goals and assisting them through the planning process involved when a loved one has a long-term care health crisis. Many families are unsure where to turn for answers when a family member enters a skilled nursing home or begins receiving other costly forms of long-term care. Matt devotes his time to answering those questions and educating families on the upcoming issues they may face. He has extensive experience in applying for Medicaid benefits and is accredited through the Department of Veterans Affairs to assist with Veterans benefits.
Matt and his wife enjoy taking in the sights and scenes of Northeast Ohio and walking their dogs through the local Metroparks.
Timothy H. Stallings, Esq., is a Founding Partner of AlterStallings, an estate planning and elder care law firm in Independence, Ohio.
A Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) through the National Elder Law Foundation, Tim grew up in Yorktown, Virginia before coming to Ohio for law school. Nowadays, Tim spends his time helping his clients deal with long-term care.
The tax landscape and long-term care landscape was much different when the firm was founded, he notes. Much of the estate planning was focused on avoiding probate and minimizing the estate tax. With the estate tax currently being a non-issue for most families, his planning has shifted to helping create plans to protect retirement assets from excessive income tax and sheltering assets from rising nursing home costs.
